First day

This morning began my second trek to complete the "Race and a Half Challenge" in January. I was excited about it last night, but this morning I got up and remembered: it's June. I live in Florida. Even at 0530, it's HOT. But I finished my five miles and that's what this is really about, I think.
Here are my stats:
Miles: 5
Total time: 1:04
Average pace: 1258
Best pace: 0830
Weather: Hot--temps were actually in the upper-70s but the "feels like" temperature was in the mid-80s.
You may have noticed that I'm a slow runner. I decided when I starting marathoning that finishing was more important to me than finishing in a certain time. It may not be for everyone, but it works for me. And since I'm the one training to run almost 40 miles in two days...well, I just don't mind being slow. In the words of OMM "I may not pass you, but I will outlast you."

  1. I like your mindset on finishing rather than being first. I'm the same way. I'd rather outlast someone, in my logic it seems like the "better win" if that makes sense.
